The confirmation hearings of Sonia Sotomayor are currently occurring. The Senate Judiciary Committee is questioning Sonia Sotomayor in an attempt to better understand how she would serve as a judge on the Supreme Court.
It is likely that questions regarding the recent firefighter discrimination case will be brought up. In this case, Sonia Sotomayor ruled at the appeals level that the white firefighters did not have a case and the city was correct. This ruling was opposite of what the Supreme Court recently decided in its decision.
