Recession May be Used to Discriminate

June 8th, 2009 · No Comments

An event that is happening right now in many businesses across the country can be described as discriminatory acts.  Many employers are letting go individuals,  citing the economy or recession as the reason.  In some cases, this is legitimate and has to do with the company unable to support its current cost structure.

In other cases,  it is being reported that the recession allows an employer to fire an employee citing the economy,  when the employee is really fired for other reasons.  The economy is being used as a smoke screen in some cases allowing an employer to discriminate against individuals.  In some cases this type of discrimination is difficult to prove, but in some cases it is blatant.
